Whether you’re looking for a great place to host an intimate event, or just a short-term home rental, you’ll fall in love with all of the details Hawk’s Hideaway has to offer.

The house has three bedrooms (two queen and one twin daybed, twin trundle and twin fold-up couch) with one full and two three-quarter baths. A large L-shape couch could also sleep a couple more! The main room is a large open living area with a galley style kitchen, family room, dining area and sitting area all situated around an original central stone hearth with a wood burning stove. The master bedroom also features another woodburning stove! There are 3 deck spaces with great views of the surrounding nature. One off of the main family room, with steps down to a large lower deck off of the master bedroom (with access to the backyard). A small deck off of the kitchen hosts a grill, two chairs and a small table. There is a 3rd floor crow's nest, great for reading, writing, meditation or yoga.

There are two televisions. One has an antenna which allows about 90 different channels. The other one is in the bedroom with the three twin beds and is not hooked up for reception, but can be used for game consoles or dvd watching. The kitchen is fully stocked with just about anything you might need. There is a coffee pot and a Keurig, two refrigerators, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, mixer, blender and plenty of plates, bowls, silverware, mixing bowls etc...There is also a full size washer and dryer. The property is not very conducive to small children and anyone who would have trouble with steps. You must go up and down steps to enter/exit the house, and also to get to any of the bedrooms.

The house is set on a very secluded 40 acres just north of Rock Chalk Park, a little more than 2 miles from Walmart on 6th St. It's very quiet and you’ll see a lot of wonderful wildlife including deer, turkey, large barn owls, hawks, and the occasional bobcat. There is easy access to the Lawrence Loop, which is a paved path that will eventually be a 17 mile loop that fully encircles Lawrence. Currently you can get on the path at Hawk's Hideaway and walk or ride your bike all the way to the Baker Wetlands on the southeast side of Lawrence. You can walk to Rock Chalk Park via the loop which leads to the trails directly behind Rock Chalk Park. There are also many wooded paths that meander throughout the property.

The front yard is partially open and partially treed. Lights are hung throughout the treed areas that make it a wonderful area for outdoor events or hammocking and camping. There is also a permanent fire pit and an additional mobile fire pit. There is a large open meadow that would be the perfect place for a family football or soccer game, kite flying, gunny sack races, obstacle course, group yoga or workouts, or a tent could be erected for any outdoor event. We have several outdoor yard games stored in the garage, including cornhole, washers, and a game that has golf balls on rope that you have to ring around a stand.

The opportunities for the property are endless, wedding, party, health retreat, family reunion, holiday getaway, weekend getaway that makes you feel miles away, or hosting people in town for sporting events at Rock Chalk Park. There are 2 hotels within about 2-3 miles of the house for guests of weddings or retreat.

We will not be allowing pets.

The home is professionally cleaned between guests, and we also have a UVC light air purifier continuously going, which kills 99.9% of virus in the air.
